What is Internet?

An internet can be defined as a global computer network which provides a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of networks that are interconnected to each other.

It has become an important tool and a very important resource that is being used by almost every person globally. It has become an important communication medium to share and get any information in any language. It connects millions of computers, servers, websites and webpages. Using the internet we can communicate to any person by just sitting at one place. The Internet provides you many services. You can use any applications, websites, website and can surf the internet if you are having the internet connection.

History of Internet :

The first ever internet came in the year 1960 with a working model of ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency). This model allowed multiple computers to work on a single network and it was the biggest achievement of that time. In October 1969,  using the ARPANET model the first ever message was transferred from one computer to another, After it as we all know it is continuosly growing on.

Working of the Internet :

As we talk about the working of the Internet. It is basically done using the clients and the servers. Here the clients are the devices in which you are surfing the Internet and are directly connected to the internet. Servers are those computers which are directly not connected to the internet and they are having all the websites in those big computers. These servers are connected to the internet with the help of ISP ( Internet Service Provider) and they are idntified through their IP address. As we all know, that every website has its own domain name. If you want to search any website you just have to enter the domain name in the search bar of your browser and then the request will be sent to the server. Then the server will try to find the IP address of the Domain name you have entered as it cannot understand the domain name. After getting the IP address of the domain name it will try to search for IP address in the Huge Phone Directory that is Known as DNS (Domain Name Server). Then after gettng the IP address the browser will pass the request to the respective server and now its the time for the server to process the request to display the content of the website to the user.

If you are using the routers then with the help of the optical fiber the light- induced signals will be converted to electrical signals and then with the help of ethernet the information reaches to you. If you are using wireless medium of internet that is 3g and 4g then the data will flow from the optical cables and will first reach to the towers and then from their it will reach to your respective devices and the information will be shared.

What is IP address ?

The full form of IP address is Internet Protocol address. Every devices and laptops have their IP addresses that are been provided by the Internet Service Providers (ISP's). Every device has its IP address different from other device IP address. You can take the example of human beings, as we are having a uniqe identification card like aadhar cards, Pan cards and other identification documents, like that every device contain its unique IP address for identification. 

There are four different types of IP addresses available:

• Static IP address

• Dynamic IP address

• Public IP addess 

• Private IP address

What is WWW ?

The full form of WWW is WorldWide Web. It can be known as the collection of  all the web pages, websites which we can see by just searching their URL's (Uniform Resource Locator) on the search bar. It provides the users a very large array of documents that are connected to each other through hypertext and hypermedia links. The Hypertext allows the users to select a word or a phrase from a text and then using it as a keyword and then accesing the other documents and information related to the Keyword or phrase. The Hyperlinks are known as electronic connectons that link all the related data and information to the keyword or phrase entered by the user.

Uses of Internet :

The Internet is used in almost every field for some or the other work, so here we have listed some of the uses of Internet:

• Education : The Internet is having a huge usage in the field of education. During the time of pandemiv their was lockdown everywhere in which the educational instiutions were closed and all classes were taken in the online mode. Other than these now for learning also we don't need to go anywhere, we can just access all learnings by just sitting at a single place from the various platforms provided on the Internet.

• Entertainment : Not only for the education, you can use it for your entertainment purpose. You have many options provided like watching movies, playing games, listening to music, watching shorts,etc.There are many platforms for the entertainment purpose provided by the Internet.

• Social Network : With the help of social networking sites and apps you can connect to each other all over the world. With these sites you can share images and videos, can talk how much far they are. You can also conduct the conferences, meetings or group calls to talk to each other.

• Banking : The Internet is also growing in the field of Banking day by day . All the merchandising companies are giving online services to their customers for paying the bill and doing the other transactions. Now you don't need to carry money everywhere, you can just use the methods of online payments.

• Online Businesses : As we all know that e-commerce websites like amazon, flipkart, etc, have made the life easier. You just have to sit at a single and order your product and gets the delivery at your door. This all is possible because of the Internet.
